City of West Monroe announces new hires in administration

The City of West Monroe Board of Aldermen have appointed a new Finance Director and City Clerk.

At the January 3 Board of Aldermen meeting, Matthew Wilson was unanimously appointed to serve as the City of West Monroe’s Finance Director. Wilson, a West Monroe native, has worked for the City for the past four years as Assistant Finance Director. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and previously worked at a private accounting firm.

In his role as Finance Director, Wilson will be responsible for managing and directing the varied functions of the City of West Monroe’s Finance Department including budgeting, accounting functions, personnel management, information technology, utility billing and financial management.

Christen Heath was unanimously appointed to serve as the City Clerk. Heath, also a West Monroe native, has worked for the City for the past three years within the Finance Department and as a project manager. She has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration. Heath and Deputy City Clerk Cindy Emory will work closely with Mayor Staci Mitchell, the City Attorney’s Office and department heads to document and facilitate city council meetings, which includes preparing meeting agendas, recording data and maintaining public records.

“We are pleased to have Matthew and Christen move into these important roles for the City of West Monroe,” said Mayor Mitchell. “They are both extremely competent and professional in their respective fields, and I know they will work diligently to Take West Monroe to the Next Level.”
